Little Lessons In Indian Lifeways
Recommended for Pre-K through 2nd Grade
Designed specifically for younger children, Little Lessons in Indian Lifeways gives participants a glimpse of life in the Eastern Woodlands approximately 500 years ago. Led by an IAIS Educator, students will learn about Native American homes and gardens, musical instruments, as well as the various roles and responsibilities of men, women and children. Little Lessons in Indian Lifeways includes:
- Outdoor replicated Algonkian village
- Sachem's House (Longhouse) Classroom
- Children's Discovery Room
- From East to West: Across Our Homelands
- Quinnetukut: Our Homeland, Our Story

Indians Of The Woodlands
Recommended for 2nd Grade through 5th Grade
Participants will learn about Northeastern Indian family life, as well as indigenous peoples' interaction with the woodland environment and their progression through time. Indians of the Woodlands includes:
- Outdoor replicated Algonkian village, where IAIS educators will teach about shelter types and construction, dugout canoes, agricultural practices and more.
- The Sachem's House (Longhouse) Classroom, where participants will learn about and handle replicated and authentic artifacts.
- From East to West: Across Our Homelands, an exhibit where students will compare and contrast artifacts from different Native American cultural regions across North America.
- Quinnetukut: Our Homeland, Our Story, an exhibit where particpants will learn how the Native Americans of Connecticut changed and adapted over their 10,000 year history in the state.

ADJUNCT PROGRAMS
The following programs can be added on in 30 minute segments to enhance your core program...
Native American Games
Learn about and play games of skill and chance, such as Hoop and Pole, Sneak Up and The Moccasin Game.
Cost (in addition to core program): $1 per student
Native American Stories
In every Native culture, oral storytelling teaches, guides and entertains. Enjoy the lessons and magic of these traditional stories as told by an experienced Native American storyteller.

Native American Crafts
Learn about and make a Native American-inspired craft under the guidance of IAIS education staff. Before your visit, the group leader may select from the following crafts:
- Talking Sticks: 30 minutes at $6.00 per student
- Age Appropriate Beading: 30 minutes at $4.00 per student
- Age Appropriate Clay Pottery: 30-45 minutes at $4.00 per student
- Corn Husk Dolls: 30 minutes at $4.00 per student (appropriate for 2nd Grade through 5th Grade...must be booked at least 3 weeks in advance)
